Live CO₂ emissions tracker for factories and power plants
TrackWanted maps the world's heaviest industrial carbon emitters — coal and gas power stations, steel mills, cement kilns, refineries and chemical works — on the same 3D globe used for flight tracking, pairing each site with satellite imagery and a live air-quality reading.
What the carbon board shows
Every row on the Carbon board is one industrial site: its annual CO₂ in tonnes, its share of global industrial emissions, its rank among tracked emitters, and how many trees would be needed to offset a year of its output. Sites are ordered by emissions so the largest contributors surface first.
Facility emissions are sourced from Climate TRACE, which combines satellite observation with sector models to estimate output plant by plant rather than country by country.
Live air quality against WHO limits
Each site also carries a live reading pulled from the CAMS atmospheric model at the plant's own coordinates. The board highlights the worst pollutant on site — PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide or ozone — and shows how far it sits above the WHO 2021 guideline, refreshed every ten minutes. A counter in the header tells you how many tracked sites are over the limit right now.
Satellite view of every site
Rows lead with a high-zoom satellite crop of the facility itself, so the cooling towers, stacks, tailings ponds or tank farms are visible rather than an abstract marker. Where a public photograph of the plant exists, it replaces the satellite crop.
How the numbers are calculated
Everyday equivalences use United States EPA greenhouse-gas equivalency factors: passenger vehicles driven for a year, average household electricity use, and urban tree seedlings grown for ten years. They are order-of-magnitude comparisons meant to make a tonne figure legible, not audited disclosures.
